help on b18c needed!!!!!!!!

So as most of you know my B18C aint doin so well, it looks like a blown head gasket and something in the block or something to do with the valves. There was white smoke coming from the exhaust but it smelled a lot like burning oil. FFTEC did a leakdown test on my car here are the results

#4: 30%leak         #3: 3%leak              #2: 98%leak             #1: 10%leak
        Rings                                          Intake valves

They told me it could be a lot of things that are wrong, and to pull the head and send it for a vacuum test, and check the block for cracked rings and a cracked or scraped cylinder wall.

Due to the fact that i have no tools (my jack is even broken) and i dont know enough yet about cars to do the job alone,

CAN ANYONE HELP ME PULL THE HEAD?????????????????????????
I live in fremont near automall, but i can drive it if needed for a short distance. I would even be willing to pay something for some help and use of tools. Cell Number is 510-364-1490 and my aim is x510gsrhatchx PLEASE help me out i want to get my car fixed, i miss the streets!

Welp,

1)Get a manual.

2)Get another manual.

3)Buy a nice set of craftsman tools.

4)The mechanics of the crew teach tough love. Sorry mang, too soon to ask for help.

5)time is money.

6) It really is not too hard to pull apart the head from the block. Just throw every nut and bolt in bags, and make sure you label them. You can never use too many ziplock bags.

8)You gotta earn the help. see number 4.

or

9)Go to a reputable shop if you dont feel comfortable doing the work yourself.

Im pretty sure I speak for everyone here when I say, our time is precious, and our knowledge should not be taken for granted.

I appreciate you asking for help, but honestly I only help those that deserve it and show that they do. As far as the other knowledgable guys, they got their stripes by putting in effort in searching that "www.etc your car type here.com" and reading those shop manuals for hours and hours and hours and hours. Along with the effort of getting down and dirty.

If the member is productive and is always at events and meets, odds are..they will be helped because they are a team player.

I dont want to make it seem that I am flaming.

It might be easier for you to just get another motor and drop it in. Perhaps keep the blown one and go fully built? everything happens for a reason, perhaps?

I can recommend shops for quality labor.

Racetune in hayward is probably one of the best quality shops in the bay area. You get what you pay for here.

Frank and his crew put in 110% in making sure its done right the first time.

Gruppe-S in hayward Is cool on prices and their staff also knows their stuff.

RedZone in San Jose is probably the best on pricing for labor, but since their prices are so good....you gotta get inline early to get your car worked on.

These are shops a couple of our car club members have had experiences with, and they have handled situations fairly, and in a timely manner.

You can tell them WyldKardz pointed you in that direction if you wish.

Good luck on your search.

Thanks,

Ted

yea i probably should pick up a good set of tools. i mean not that many people have respectable cars but dont have a set of tools and dont know how to work on their car. its not that i am lazy trust me i spent time doing the research on h-t before its just different doin things in reality and especially because im a begginer i dont want to mess anything up ya know.

thanks for the advice on shops and stuff, but i actually have already been to Frank, who by the way is a super nice guy, been to DNR, bozz, and fftec where they did the tests and were helping me plan the turbo build prior to the engine issues. So i been around and checked places out also.

well hopefully i will earn the respect to get help from you guys one day, i actually made an attempt at starting tonight but it didnt go so well, so it may end up goin to a shop.

Helm's manuals are the best choice for honda's. Unfortunatly they dont make one for DSMs.

After looking through Johns manual for his RSX, it kicks ass in detail and specs. Made me want a honda.......

Nah, maybe not.

Im a sucker for car info.....take your time on dissasembly...

No need to rush things

my friend got one for his rsx-s and it is complete. I have the 94-01 helms if you wanna compare.

You would spend way more then $5 for your time and paper cost to photo copy my book.

forget the CD...buy the real HELMS. Can you imagine sitting in your chair for 30 mins scrolling down 1500 pages? at times youll need to have your helms on hand in the garage, you dont want to run back and forth in your house. Its a $55-60 well spent. I have both the book and the cd...stupid ebay seller and his confusing description. But ill try to dig it up and burn you a copy if anything. But I still recommend you to go buy the book!!

Well i finally took action today. I went out to SEARS and purchased:
Jack and Jack Stands
A Creeper
122 peice tool set
8 Drawer Tool Box
All Crafstman
Big and Small Plastic Baggies

I and my friend Jeremy then proceeded to pull the head off!
Unfortunately i ran into 2 set backs
1- Positive(i discovered i have ARP head studs) Negative (the bolts for the         ARP studs can only be removed with a 12point 14mm deep socket which Kragen and Autozone dont carry)
2- A cam cover bolt fell into one of the oil drain holes and down to the oil pan, which means i had to pull the headers and will have to drop the oil pan to get it out.

Other than that everything went really well! The head will get pulled off tomrow and vacuum tested tomorow and hopefully someone will be able to determine what exactly is wrong in the block. Ill keep you guys updated as things continue!

I got a creeper, works real good leaning against the wall. I need the extra distance from the group to the bottom of the car normally so I don't even bother. The toque wrench is really important if you plan on installing anything!

Very impressed with your effort and hard work.

The best part is the feeling you get when you fire that engine up!

I just got off the phone with RS they quoted me :

$2600 + $120 = $2720 shipped one-way

This includes: 84mm bore, sleeved, step deck and hot tank, Arias Pistons 84mm (9.6:1), Eagle Rods, OEM gsr Thurst Washers and Main Rod Bearings, OEM head gasket.

Nate from fullfunction-tech said he would give me a type-r oil pump, which will save me $130. Then i can use that money to get a new water pump and timing belt.

How does this deal sound to you guys? Anything missing?

with that compression it sound like you are interested in boosting or squeezing?

If you want to go all motor, I would recommend higher compression 12.5+:1

Keep in mind your daily driving activities. Higher compression = retarded timing or racegas in the daily driving mix.

Key question here, what are your plans for this motor?

Ya that setup with 9.6:1 compression pistons would suck for all motor, isnt 9.6:1 somewhere around the compression of a wrx?

ya with the build i have planed there is definitely gonna be boost coming next, actually its gonna go on as soon as the buit motor gets broken in.  here is the link to the kit i am getting http://www.fftec.com/product_makes_and_models.php?sub_category_id=2

what you think?

In order to make it a 2.0L do you have to change the crank/stroke or just bore, or both?

Ohh yea and for those of you who i havent already told, i finally picked a block. lsvtec turbo project in the works, thats all i can say, and ill keep you guys updated.
