Busy with everyday life.

I know I haven't logged on in ages and some or most of you don't even know who I am. My name is Phil (the OG and maybe only FlipJabi of the crew) and was part of the original start up making WyldKardz (Jay's dream) come to life. As the title or subject shows, I haven't been active in so long long. Jay, Karl, Ted, and Bumble Bee Jon were at my wedding which is now 9 years ago as of 7/10/2012. The last time I was around everyone as an entire crew was at the 10 year anniversary bbq for WK. I logged on to see what everyone was up to and noticed that the last entry was in December of last year. From what I understand, no one from the original crew is officialy active anymore. However, I hope others will come and help carry the name on for years to come. I told Ted 9 years ago that I feel like a has been in which he replied that I wasn't. I'm glad he said that because I never stopped being a tuner. I know my knowledge isn't even up to par for street level tuning but I still believe in the same motto the guys and I used to joke around with. That motto is, "Friends don't let friends drive stock". I may not be able to contribute much but all I know is that I have to continue it somehow because my son is so proud of the fact he got to hang out with the WyldKardz crew 3 years ago and aims to someday be a member himself. I know it sounds cliche' but it's true.

What's up Triz. Yeah I didn't even know Jay was back. I don't really hear from the guy much even on FB. I heard from Gyrex that people still get together and make it out to events and stuff.

Actually I think I live the furthest. I live in Glendale AZ. I thought I saw someone in Washington and Florida right? Yeah I saw Jay's Cabrio or Cabriolet. If he's gonna do anything close to what we both imagined back in the day if we had VWs and I still want to build a mini truck because that's what WyldKardz was originally supposed to be a crew of. The Tacoma was a new platform and I was supposed to get one, Jay was supposed to inherit his mom's Nissan Hard Body pick up, and Anh had a Datsun pickup that was a civic EX killer all day. But I guess we'll just have to wait.

We are still a local function and do still have our crew meetings, still show up to support each other when we can, where ever we can. We started a monthly crew due fund that goes back into the crew (outings, pizza, hotel fees, whatever its voted to be used on, etc), we have that structure going. With every day life, kids, wifes, homes, cars, repairs, girlfriends, etc., priorities get moved around and time is very shuffled.

We are still here Phil, and one thing hasnt changed with the name. If its being repped by members, it better be repped right and not just handed out to anyone and everyone. Thats something that has always set WyldKardz apart from the rest. We have never just handed out stickers, sweaters, banners to just anyone thats not around and not up with current events (local level). We give Jay **** for not being around, and I've been telling him he cant have a sweater for the longest time. He knows I mean no harm by it, but rules are rules. Founders or not, Jay was around for many more ups and downs and will always have his golden ticket with this car club. I am only one voice and vote, any decisions made are made as a crew, at meetings. Thats the best part about having structure in organizations. There is no absolute power, and never a need to have it.

When your son is ready to rep the name, the new generations will be around. They will have their rules, their standards, their probee hazing, and their rights to the name. Things change, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. But all in all, this car club will survive. Members have came and went, some have defaced the name which is why they may no longer be affiliated with the name, and others are still here keeping the name classy and standing up for what it is. We are always "WyldKardz", nobody ever knows what we'll bring out or when biggrin

Hmmm, green battle tank.....This must be Ted. What's up Ted? How have you been man? Well said by the way. So much conviction and authority. I've been silently watching your progress and your failures/trials. You're becoming a great builder Ted. I see you either having you own shop or wrenching for a big name. Keep it up man. As far as I can remember, you're always wrenching on something on your car. Even at the bbq you were underneath getting all greased up. I'd love to share your knowledge and know how because I know most of what you have learned is self taught. You ever got back into RC racing?

Yep, this is Ted. Been good, just living day to day and getting by working on local DSMs, tuning, fabbing, getting paid. I dabbed in the shop working life for a month at Full Function last year (pretty big shop in the industry), and although I learned a few tricks, I don't think I can work at a shop under someone elses name. I'd rather have my own hole in the wall shop with one lift, a secretary and a grunt to keep things tidy, while building my own reputation and name. Selfish? Maybe. But entitled I am as long as I do the work. Funny that comes up. I got a text from the co-owner of FFTec last week, asking if I could help out since they're swamped.

As long as we all learn from our mistakes, our successes will show what we learned along the way. Quickest 4G63 in california, quickest and fastest DSM in california all garage built, street tuned, All walk. Guess who helped get me where I am today? Wyldkardz did. How? Spending long nights on the side of the road, out in the boonies street racing, up for 24hrs in the garage getting the car ready for the following event. Turboing honda, installing random parts on said hondas, etc.,

I can name every member that has come over to lend a hand from day one. If it wasn't for this car club, I wouldnt have the knowledge I have today, I havent forgot that, but I dont ride the **** out of it. Thats what car clubs are supposed to be about. The more we help each other in different ways, the closer the unit gets. Im saying this because some of these root morals have been lost in the years that have gone by from when you were in it. Genuine people and members have been thinned out to a handful of what we have today. But it is more relaxed and there isn't pressure to build anything. Unfortunately thats where real life comes into play, and priorities move to the top of the list.

But we have the members we have, and we still have roots and a solid core to build off of. Its just up to the current and "new" members to take what we have and build off it. I feel like more of an "observer" than a "member". But I'll still put it down if I can, just to show these new kids how its supposed to be done.

RC racing has changed dramatically, I dont think I can get into it anytime soon. Maybe when I get older, or a nephew asks for one.

I've always known you were down for the crew. That was never questioned. I always brag about what you and your car does every time you hit a new milestone. Most of the guys I bump into here think that I'm full of it when I talk about the crew or my old racing days even before WK. But I'll be the first to admit to them that a street racer in the late 90's is totally different from a street racer today. I remember all you needed back in the day was intake, exhaust, side markers, 5 or 7 spoke rotas/tsw, and maybe even a supra spoiler. If you had headers you were almost untouchable. Man I miss those days. Now it's all about big builds, big swaps, stand alone tuning programs. Holy **** I'm scurred son! That's like my Mexican coworkers hearing me speak tagalog for the first time. I know you're a serious builder and I never question that. But in my head I can still see you as the guy who mooned me while on cruise control on the way to San Diego.
